Grants for Air Scouts

We have one fund to help support the purchase of equipment for Air Scouting, and to assist with the costs of air experiences for young people. You are eligible to apply for this fund whether or not you are an Air Scout Group or Explorer Scout Unit recognised by the RAF.

The W T Taylor Fund

All Air Scout Groups and Explorer Scout Units may make an application to the W T Taylor Fund.

The fund was created ‘to provide gliding scholarships, equipment, refurbishment of HQs and training for Air Scouts.’

The fund supports:

  • The purchase of planes and other equipment
  • air training and air experiences for youth members; simulator flights, gliding and other flight experiences
  • the general costs of Air Scout Groups, building costs and development

Applicants are eligible for one grant award totaling no more than £2,500 each financial year and are to cover a maximum of 50% of the costs of equipment, training or service.

To apply for any of these funds, you will need to provide the following evidence:

  • A set of accounts
  • Evidence of costs
  • For funding requests over £1,500, a letter in support of the application from your line manager
