Such as your role in recruitment, using Scouting resources, getting the Trustee Board involved, getting your team to work together to recruit and promoting Scouts locally.

Getting people to volunteer is one thing, but how do we get them to stay? This workshop is for Group Scout Leaders and District Explorer Scout Commissioners and is all about making sure new volunteers get the best experience from the start to the end, meaning they stay with us for longer.

Positive and regular reviews can create a happy and effective team. Prevention is better than cure! This workshop will focus on the Group Scout Leader and District Explorer Scout Commissioner's responsibilities around the review process. Including formal and informal procedures, support around difficult conversations and useful tools to familiarise yourself with in this area. Including role descriptions, the policy, compliance and talent management.

If you're now managing your District's Explorer Units, you've got a whole new set of responsibilities. This workshop will take you through the key areas around your role as a manager. 

There’s no I in Team. This workshop is for Group Lead Volunteers and those who are managing the District's Explorers (DESC or 14-24 Team) and will help you create and support an effective and diverse team. We’ll be discussing the difference between managing volunteers compared to employees, flexible Scouting, having effective meetings to get people on board, where to get support and how to utilise the strengths within your team.

Futureproofing your Group and Units. This workshop is for both Group Lead Volunteers and those managing the District's Explorer Units and will focus on growth through promoting Scouting, succession planning, utilising young leaders and how your perception in the community can make a big difference.
