Group Scout Leader induction workshops

We’re updating the Group Scout Leader induction and will be running 6 workshops over the next year to compliment your induction. Each workshop will go into more detail on your role managing the Group, your team, reviews, development, recruitment and the volunteer journey.

The Group Scout Leader’s Role as a ManagerSat 25th September 2021 Add to calendar

10:00am - 11:30am

Being a manager of a Scout Group comes with new responsibilities. This workshop will take you through the key areas around your role as a manager. Such as understanding your executive, how to implement the Scouts vision and strategy in your Group, your specific role and responsibilities for safety and safeguarding, knowing what your key tasks are, how to reflect your community and how the events and actions throughout the calendar year can be of benefit to you as GSL.

There’s no I in Team. As a GSL you line manage your team at Group level. This workshop will help you create and support an effective and diverse team that will make your Group successful. We’ll be discussing the difference between managing volunteers compared to employees, flexible scouting, having effective meetings to get people on board, where to get support and how to utilise the strengths within your team.
