Right now, the gap between young people from the communities most impacted by the pandemic and their peers is widening, meaning some are falling behind.

Scouts builds life-long friendships, provides new experiences, and develops #SkillsForLife for young people across the UK. But for today’s young children, who’ve spent up to half their lives isolated in lockdown, their opportunities have been sadly limited.

After years of research, Scouts has launched Squirrels, a programme specially designed for 4–6 year olds. This is a key stage in their social and emotional development, when vital connections are being made in the brain. The skills that they can learn through play, form the foundations for the rest of their lives. This is the time to fill their minds with wonder.

Since launch in September 2021, over 300 Squirrel Dreys have been set up in local communities. However, we need your help to reach families in the most disadvantaged parts of the UK, see how your donation can make a difference and be sure to share your message to support the Acorn Appeal.
