Chief Commissioner of England

Elizabeth Henderson

Elizabeth leads and supports Scouting in England to achieve our Skills for Life strategy. She is responsible for the newly developed England Leadership Team –with a focus on supporting the sixty County Commissioners who manage Scouting across the country.

As a keen youth member of the 4th Southgate, in Greater London North, Elizabeth experienced exciting opportunities, challenge and adventure, which led to lasting friendships and lifelong volunteering. She’s proud to be a Queen’s Scout - alongside her father, brother, husband and son. Liz has held section appointments with Beavers, Scouts and Explorers, but also enjoys organising all manner of events and delivering training – especially for Explorer Scout Young Leaders.

Following relocation to the South West, Liz became involved in supporting Scouts in a wider context and most recently served as Somerset’s County Commissioner.

Liz is particularly passionate about additional needs inclusion in Scouting. She works full-time as a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist, managing a team in a large special needs school, and providing consultancy services to organisations in the UK and abroad.

Liz is also involved in her village church as the Benefice Safeguarding Officer and a member of the Parochial Church Council.
