A week has now passed since applications for Moot officially launched and we’re already swimming in applications!
We want to fill our UK Contingent pod with Participants and International Service Team (IST) that represent the diversity of UK Scouting. Our grant scheme is here to help you and is designed to ensure there are no barriers to entry for our members who want to attend the Moot but may have concerns about the costs involved.
We know that Moot, like many international Scouting adventures, can be expensive. While it can also be an opportunity to make new friends, create memories to last a lifetime, and even provide opportunities to boost your CV with a host of new skills, it is also a financial decision that you need to take seriously. This is why we want to make clear the financial support available to you.
Our goal is to support as many of you as possible, whilst also ensuring that the grants we offer make a real impact to those most in need. We have grants of up to 75% of the Core Fee available. We really hope this can help to break down those barriers to entry that may have otherwise prevented an application.
The grant application form can be filled in at the same time as your main Moot application. There is a separate form for Participants and IST so please ensure you complete the correct option. I want to encourage all those in need of support to complete the form! We have worked closely with the grant team at Scouts HQ to ensure the form is easy to complete and isn't going to take hours to finish. We’re also here to help if anyone has any questions or needs support to fill it in.
We want our contingent members to make informed decisions. That’s why, if you are offered a place at the Moot you will be told if we are able to offer you a grant at the same time. This means you’ll know what financial support you will get, so that you can make an informed decision.
Remember, we are a family of Scouts and as a family we strive to support each other! Grants are just one of the ways that we do this. As a UK Contingent, we will continue to support all of our pod to make the most of their #MootUK journey. Throughout our Moot adventure, we’ll also be encouraging our contingent to share fundraising advice and support, making contingent events as accessible as possible, and as a CMT, we’ll be here to listen if you need us.
