‘Scouting to me is about freedom. When I got divorced I was looking for a way to get out and meet new people and I came across the local Scouts recruiting volunteers in the town centre. It was just there at the right time and I haven’t looked back. At first I just helped out when I could, but enjoyed it so much I did the training to become a Group Scout Leader. Because of Scouting I’ve got lots of great new friends, have been able to give something back to my community and I’ve been coasteering - something I never imagined I’d do.’
