‘My boyfriend is a Group Scout Leader and it was him who initially asked for my help when they started doing some work on the Scout Building. I’ve been in the building trade for about ten years and have been helping the local Scouts for about seven by using my skills to do odd jobs or my contacts to find people that can help. Recently we refitted the store room with help from some older Scouts and parents. For me I get the opportunity to manage a project from start to finish which has helped me towards goals in my career. I’ve just become a site foreman and it was really useful in the interview to be able to talk about how I’d managed people doing work for the local Scouts.’
