‘For me it’s a welcome break from my studies and an opportunity to build up some good stuff for my CV. Last year I went to Kenya with my Scout Network to work on a project building a new community centre. It was hard work, but we learnt lots of new things and met so many interesting people. We also went on safari and I saw my first ever giraffe in the wild!
'I’m at Loughborough University training to be a PE teacher, so the experience of volunteering each week with young people is really useful. I became an Explorer Scout Leader, the kind of stuff I end up doing is often very "outdoorsy" like organising hikes or trips to go caving or abseiling.’
