Safety issues in event planning (Scout Network)
All activities in Scouting should be conducted in a safe environment.
There are clear rules regarding Scouting activities and, in particular, adventurous activities.
They are designed for the welfare of the participants and not to restrict activities taking place.
There are rules in place for:
- residential experiences, including camping
- hill walking
- mountain biking
- climbing and abseiling
- caving and potholing
- water activities
- air activities
- snow sports
There are a few activities that are not allowed by The Scout Association. These include paintball games and bungee jumping.
Details of the authorisation schemes for adventurous activities can
be obtained from your County or Area or from the Scout Information
Centre.
They can also be found in Policy, Organisation and Rules.
