Values and Relationships

The Values and Relationships Zone is about learning to live and work in harmony with other people.

This zone is not just about developing relationships within the Unit, but about learning the skills and attitudes needed to work with many different people in the future.

As young people develop, they will often need to be tolerant of others, understanding alternative points of view, or how to express their own. They will also need skills in team-working, sharing with others and courtesy.

Benefits

By taking part in activities in the Values and Relationships Zone, the Explorer Scouts will:

  • learn to work in different groupings
  • identify the skills and attitudes they need to work closely with other people
  • consider how relationships and communications within different groupings could be improved with greater understanding of their own values and those held by other people
  • develop a better understanding of their own values and become more confident in their beliefs
  • understand and play an active role in their local community and wider society
  • learn to live in harmony with other people.
