Promoting Scouting at diverse events
09/02/2012
For the last couple of years, The Scout Association has been supporting various events that have helped promote Scouting as a diverse and inclusive organisation. From an Asian Mela in Ipswich to London Pride, these events have raised our profile and introduced Scouting to many new people.
This year, we would like to know what you’ve been up to and what events are going on in your area. Is there an event that you could attend that would raise the profile of Scouting in a particular community or help recruit more adults or young people? It could be anything from community and faith events to Prides or events for carers, and many things in between.
Email diversity.inclusion@scouts.org.uk to let us know which events you would like to attend this year. Also, if you have been to similar events in previous years and would to share your experiences with others across the UK, drop us a line describing where you have been and the benefits (and challenges) of going.
Remember, if you are thinking of attending any diversity events to recruit adults or young people or introduce Scouting to new communities, it may be possible to apply for funding from the development grants board. We also have a range of ready-made recruitment resources that you could use. Log on to the Print Centre and follow ‘supporting diversity’ to take a look, download, and order them.
