New scout game app - exclusive sneak preview

02/02/2012

The Scout Association is preparing to launch its first ever scout game app. Scouts Secret Island Adventure is an all-action game that showcases the best of scouting skills and activities.

The game, developed by the Fyzz Facility and Swipe Entertainment, allows the player to embark on a journey through the sky, sea and land, trying out arcade style mini-games such as hang-gliding, mountain boarding and kayaking.

Available this April on Apple and Android devices, a trailer and game mini-site have already been launched to give a taste of the action. Players can create their own character and enter a virtual world. They then engage in a series of challenges in order to find the chief scout's secret knowledge.

Positive feedback

The game was also road-tested by nearly 300 Scouts at Gilwell Park's Wintercamp. Dylan, 13, was one of the scouts who took part: 'I thought it was really adventurous,' he said. 'There were lots of realistic activities and things to do.'

'It was really cool that you could see the character from different perspectives,' said another.

'I thought it was brilliant,' said Dave, a scout leader. 'It would be really good for a games night with scouts.'

Wayne Marc Godfrey, partner at The Fyzz Facility says: 'This game takes Scouting well into the 21st century. Using the skills that the scouts learn on a day-to-day basis, the player gets to test their knowledge, prove their agility and use their initiative and be the hero of their own adventure.'

Opportunities and adventure

'The game is a brilliant way to experience the fun, challenge and adventure of Scouting,' says Chris James, creative and brand adviser at The Scout Association. 'Of course nothing beats the real thing, but this is sure to give anyone an appetite for the great opportunities and adventures that Scouting offers.'
