Give amazing Scouts the recognition they deserve!
12/03/2010
Every day Scouts around the UK are doing amazing things within their local communities. The Diana Award is a great way to give inspirational young people the recognition they deserve.
Founded ten years ago by the Diana Memorial Committee, The Diana Award has recognised the achievements of 27,000 young people and provided them with life changing opportunities.
The Award helps challenge negative stereotypes of young people by focusing on those who are compassionate and determined to change society for the better – qualities closely associated with Diana Princess of Wales. What is more, they have fun doing it.
Binda helps beat the bullies
Binda was ecstatic when she received her award, ‘I was over the moon when my teacher announced my name and presented me with my Award in front of my peers.’
Binda received her Award for the time and devotion she had put into Connect, a successful anti-bullying scheme, and for working with the school council to raise money for charities such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Tsunami Appeal.
Receiving a Diana Award inspired Binda to work even harder for other people. She has since been an active Diana Ambassador and has had fantastic opportunities such as taking part in the Annual Award Holders’ Conference and being invited for lunch with Princes William and Harry.
As Binda herself puts it: ‘The Diana Award has allowed me to grow and has encouraged me to do so much more than I ever thought I could.’
