Chief Scout parascends into Who's Who list
07/12/2009
Chief Scout Bear Grylls has been included in the latest edition of Who’s Who. The publication features the biographies of over 33,000 people of ‘distinction and influence’ and is among the most recognised and respected reference books in the world.
Not surprisingly, the listing for the Chief Scout stands out for its adventurous nature with the survival expert listing “mountaineering, paragliding, sailing, yoga, martial arts” among his pastimes.
Leading figure
Who’s Who contains biographies of leading figures from all walks of life. Its philosophy is to recognise those who have an ‘ability which singles them out from their fellows’. Only around 1,000 new names were added this year including Bear, tennis champion Roger Federer and actors Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.
Bear scaled Everest aged just 23 and has crossed Atlantic Arctic Ocean in an open inflatable boat. His feats have been translated in hugely popular books including Bear Grylls Great Outdoor Adventures and television programmes such as Born Survivor. He was appointed Chief Scout in May 2009.
