Bear Grylls officially becomes new UK Chief Scout

13/07/2009

Saturday saw Bear Grylls officially taking over as the UK's new Chief Scout from Peter Duncan at Gilwell 24, a 24 hour activity camp for 14-18 year olds at Gilwell Park Scout Activity Centre near London.

Read 15 year old Explorer Scout Sam Coopeys' Gilwell 24 diary to get a flavour of what those who attended the event got up to.

You can also read more about the moment Bear Grylls officially took over from Peter Duncan as Chief Scout.

Great event. Would love to hear what you said, as we only caught "sausages", "fires", "youth of today" and "free hugs". I'm sure there was more to it, but the crowd was so boisterous and having so much fun that hearing what you said was rather hard!
