Involving parents

A parent's guide to Scouting coming soon

An updated version of the parent pack (previously Where Did All That Mud Come From?) will be available from 1 March 2012. It is designed to give parents the information they need when their child first joins Scouting, what happens in Scouting and how they can help.

The packs have been produced to help leaders engage parents and encourage them to get more involved with scouting.

The packs now in a handy size with a pocket at the back for local information available for download include a welcome letter to new parents, family information form, local information details, financial information and uniform diagrams. You will be able to order in quantities of 25 (all you need to pay is the postage and packing).

Look out for more information how to order your packs from 1 March or call the scout information centre on 0845 300 1818.

It's also a good idea to try and engage with the parents of your scouts through social events. One possibility is a group parents' evening, and more information on these can be found in the factsheet below.
