International

Scouting is currently active in 216 countries and territories with a global membership of over 31 million. Two thirds of the international membership are in developing countries.

The International Office, based at Gilwell Park, promotes international opportunities including camps and projects, with the aim of strengthening links between The Scout Association in the UK and other members of The World Organization of the Scout Movement. The team also supports the global elements to the Programme and administers grant-aid for visits abroad.

The UK Contingents team assists groups of young people attending world events such as The World Scout Moot and The World Scout Jamboree.

SOS Children's Villages

In the August/September 2010 issue of Scouting magazine there is an article about the work we have been doing with SOS Children's Villages on creating some programme ideas for all Sections. Click here to see an extended version of that piece with a few more ideas.
