Deep Sea Scout Fellowship

Originally Scouts working on ships could join the Deep Sea Scouts and, armed with a list of Worldwide contacts, they could remain active in the Movement on their travels, kept up-to-date with our seasonal magazine Scouts in Ships (referred to as SinS -I wonder why?). But as the numbers of ships and the Scouts working on them dwindled, the Deep Sea Scout Fellowship was formed; this has allowed us to incorporate friends and relations of serving or served members, and to keep the numbers viable. How would we presently describe ourselves? 'Marinated Scouts' might be apt! Today's membership reflects the Fellowship age criteria, from a young recruit to the very retired, and we are very active, either as individuals or groups, in helping at camps and activities throughout the UK. How do we meet? Basically, where and whenever we can. We definitely meet twice per year, in April at our AGM, held at various venues around the UK (although Borneo was once suggested!), and in September at Gilwell Reunion. During the summer, we usually also manage to arrange to meet at one of the International Camps held in the UK, and at various Local Fellowship Camps.
