Zoë’s one to watch: Enchanted |
 |
Plot Summary from IMDB
An animated fairy tale meets modern, live-action comedy. Princess Giselle is banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a ‘happily ever after’ basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid - even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince back home - she has to wonder: Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
What Zoë had to say:
‘I loved the way older Disney songs that would have only been recognised by us 90's kids were incorporated into the film. The only bad bit was the half finished ending, it just wasn't quite right. But I’d still recommend it because it was still a very enjoyable film.’

Zoë’s one to listen out for: Tim Kay |
 |
Profile from Tim’s MySpace
Recently signed to Rhino/Warner Records, things are looking up for this young singer/songwriter. Heavily influenced by Jeff Buckley, Aqualung and Muse, Tim’s melancholic yet simultaneously uplifting style was spotted by celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver (Tim worked at Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant in East London as a waiter, whilst gigging solo at many of London’s live music hotspots). His first single, 'My World' is due for release end of May 2008. The song has been produced by legendary producer Marius De Vries (Madonna, Bjork, David Gray) and Jamie Oliver even did his bit by playing the drums!
What Zoë had to say:
‘Tim sings the theme for the Jamie Oliver TV show 'Jamie at Home'. Sad, I know, but he's really good.’

Zoë’s one to read: The Scout's Companion |

Plot Summary
This nostalgic and witty little compendium will tell you everything you could ever want or need to know about Scouting. The highlights include: extracts from the original 'Scouting for Boys'; Baden Powell's life story; Scout codes, recipes, knots and stargazing skills; amusing musings from Scouts who have made the big time e.g. J F Kennedy and Keith Richards; how the Scouting Movement was founded; how Scout skills vary from country to country and continent to continent; and humorous and historical illustrations and diagrams.
What Zoë had to say:
‘Perhaps unsurprisingly, the last book I read was 'The Scout's Companion'. I found it a really good read. There were loads of interesting facts about Scouting. The only bit in the book I didn't enjoy was the descriptions of Patrol animals. I would definitely recommend it to other Explorers. It has lots of handy hints for wild camps and at home. The book also gives a brilliant insight into Scouting past and present.’ |
