April 2007

Campfire Circle MagazineWelcome to the first issue of Scouts' Campfire Circle magazine. Whether you are a former volunteer or someone who wants to find out more before making a commitment, you are sure to find this issue interesting reading.

This year sees the most exhilarating celebrations in Scouting’s history as we mark our Centenary. It’s possibly more thrilling to be involved in Scouting at this moment in time than it’s ever been. This issue covers some of the history of Scouting but also reminds us that Scouting is as vibrant and essential today as it has always been. We have a healthy future ahead of us! From 1 January this year, Scouting became ‘fully mixed’. You can read about the benefits of becoming co-educational on pages feature stories from people who have successfully included Scouting in their busy lives by adopting flexible practices. Scouting is about the here and now. And while the Movement may be 100 years old, the difference it makes to young people’s lives is still very relevant.
